The Batesville High School varsity football team opened the season with a 42-28 home win against Indian Creek. The Bulldogs scored 21 first half points to take a 14 point lead into the break. Both teams countered with seven points in the third quarter and 14 in the fourth. Batesville was led defensively by Gage Pohlman with a total of seven tackles, while Deacon Hamilton had six. Damien Dance, John Dirkhising and Alex Krekeler were each credited with five. Offensively, the BHS ground game was productive behind a good night from the offensive line. Pohlman carried the ball 25 times for 178 yards, including a long run of 48. Quarterback Will Jaisle carried the ball for 35 yards and threw for 92, including two touchdowns. Cade Kaiser was on the other end both touchdown passes and finished with four catches for 66 yards.
