Bulldogs fall 11-8 to Trojans

The Batesville High School varsity baseball team suffered a 11-8 loss to East Central. Jackson Elston collected three hits in four at bats lead Batesville. Elston singled in the first inning, doubled in the third inning, and singled in the seventh inning. East Central got on the board in the top of the first inning after Brayden Reis homered to right field, and the Bulldogs committed an error, each scoring one run. Batesville made the score 3-2 in the bottom of the first after a passed ball scored one run, and Elston singled, scoring two runs. The Bulldogs added one run in the second after Ronan Post tripled to center field. East Central flipped the game on its head in the top of the third, scoring six runs on six hits to take the lead, 8-4. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by Brent Merk that drove in two. Vinny Keck hit a solo home run to left field in the top of the seventh for the Trojans. William Huber started on the hill for the Bulldogs. The righty allowed eight hits and eight runs (seven earned) over two and two-thirds innings, striking out three and walking one. Batesville collected 10 hits in the game. Noah Weigel stole two bases. The Bulldogs turned one double play in the game.
